{"id":1,"date":"2024-10-12T09:45:15","date_gmt":"2024-10-12T09:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sustainkita.org\/?p=1"},"modified":"2024-10-12T17:18:35","modified_gmt":"2024-10-12T17:18:35","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sustainkita.org\/?p=1","title":{"rendered":"New Initiative: 2024\/2025 SOS Webinar Series"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>by Shao Yim, Eo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cSustainkita Outreach Series (SOS)\u201d is a youth-led advocacy initiative aimed to spark meaningful dialogues on climate change and inspire collective action among Malaysian youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centered on <strong>(1) awareness raising<\/strong> &amp; <strong>(2) capacity building<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SOS initiative integrates a nationwide social media campaign with interactive webinars, accessible to youth all across Malaysia.<br><br>Through the social media campaign, young leaders from climate-impacted communities in every state will be empowered to share their stories and experiences. This initiative will showcase the diverse ways climate change affects Malaysians in local contexts, driving home the urgency of effective climate mitigation and adaptation measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on this momentum, our educational webinars will further empower youth with practical tools and knowledge to reduce their carbon footprints through energy efficiency and waste management measures, starting from their homes and communities, with the guidance of environmental and industry experts. Virtual workshops will be held to educate youth on how to estimate their carbon footprints using a custom-developed carbon emission calculator, guided by an international expert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expected impact includes increased awareness, behavioral change towards sustainability, and the creation of a community of environmentally conscious youth working together for a greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SOS: Climate Code Red<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Aims to raise awareness on sustainability, inspire individual behavioral change, and build capacity among youth by providing practical knowledge and tools. The initiative integrates education, measurable outcomes, and climate action goals to empower participants to take meaningful steps towards addressing the climate crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key objectives include: &#8211;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>(1) Raise Awareness on Sustainability and Climate Change<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Educate participants on the global climate crisis and its specific impacts on Malaysia and Southeast Asia. Make the information accessible to both general audiences and experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>(2) Promote Individual Behavioral Change<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Foster climate accountability among 70% of total participants by helping them track and reduce their carbon footprints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>(3) Youth Knowledge and Capacity Building<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Equip 300 youths with practical tools and knowledge on energy efficiency, waste management, and carbon emission measurement through 3 interactive webinars and 2 workshops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Shao Yim, Eo The \u201cSustainkita Outreach Series (SOS)\u201d is a youth-led advocacy initiative aimed to spark meaningful dialogues on climate change and inspire collective action among Malaysian youth.
