I had the privilege to represent Sustainkita today to contribute to the development of National Planetary Health Action Plan, focusing on the Governance pillar, organized by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. Engaging with the youth leaders from various organisations during the discussion led by Mr. Jia Yaw Kiu, was both stimulating and enlightening.
Planetary health 🌎 is a new concept recognizing the interdependencies of environmental and human health to ensure a resilient future for all of humanity. As we confront global challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, and biodiversity loss, it is vital to move beyond traditional ESG frameworks and embrace the principles of planetary health to safeguard both nature and society.
This initiative marks a significant step forward for our nation, as Malaysia is the first country in Southeast Asia to develop and adopt such a comprehensive plan with the goal to integrate planetary health considerations into all our national policies and plans.
I am happy to be part of this transformative nation-building initiatives with representatives from Malaysian Youth Delegation, HEYA – Higher Education Malaysia Association, Malaysian Nature Society, Pertubuhan Pemuda GEMA Malaysia, UNDI 18 and Youths United For Earth (YUFE) .
